Swiss made Glardon-Vallorbe Square Escapement files have square handles. Escapement file lengths are measured from tip to the end of the cut and measurements do not include the tang. Escapement files are also called Watchmakers files.

Square escapement files gradually taper in width and thickness down to the point.

• Glardon-Vallorbe Swiss Made Escapement Files are measured from the point where the teeth begin to when the cut stops.  The tang or handles are not included in this measurement.
• Glardon-Vallorbe Swiss Made Square Escapement Files are graded with a number from 2 for coarsest to 10 for finest. Remember, the higher the number the finer the cut.
