Product Details

Glardon-Vallorbe Swiss Made Precision Files are manufactured to precise production standards, using a combination of machine cutting and hand craftsmanship to produce the most accurate, best-cutting, and longest-lasting files in the world. Made from the finest heat-tempered chrome alloy steel, they deliver the feel, action, and balance demanded by true craftsmen. These files deliver superior performance on all metals — simply the best you can buy. Formerly distributed by Grobet USA under the brand name Grobet Swiss.

The Valtitan Pillar File is specially treated to achieve a hardness of 72 HRc on the Rockwell scale — the hardest steel file known. This treatment makes Valtitan files exceptionally effective on hard-to-file surfaces, while also providing corrosion resistance and extended file life. Valtitan files resist metal accumulation in the teeth; a simple knock is typically enough to clear chips. They are recommended for platinum and other hard metals such as stainless steel, but perform equally well across all metals. Starting in 2016, Valtitan files are no longer produced with yellow-painted tangs — the factory now imprints VALTITAN directly on the tang for identification.

Notes

  • File length is measured from where the teeth begin to the end of the file body, not from tip to end of tang.
  • Glardon-Vallorbe files are graded 00 (coarsest) through 6 (finest). The higher the number, the finer the cut.
  • Valtitan files no longer have yellow-painted tangs; look for the VALTITAN imprint on the tang.
