Fitting a graver to the handle can be accomplished using one of two common methods. The first method involves heating the tang of the graver until red hot, then pressing it firmly into the guide hole of the handle. The heat burns a perfectly fitted channel into the wood, creating a secure, custom fit. The second method uses a drill to slightly enlarge the guide hole, while the tang of the graver is ground to a point. With the graver tip protected by a wood block, the tang is then hammered into the handle until firmly seated.
