Traditional liver of sulfur in lump form for creating controlled oxidation (patina) on jewelry metals. When dissolved in hot water, this compound darkens metal surfaces to highlight engraving, texture, and detail. Use sparingly with distilled water. Supplied in a plastic jar. Safe to ship by all methods; not classified as hazardous in this form.

Directions

  1. Dissolve 1 oz of liver of sulfur in 1 quart of hot water.
  2. Dip or swab the clean article. Preheating the metal often improves results.
  3. If a scaly black finish appears, the solution is too strong—dilute with additional hot water.
  4. Rinse and dry thoroughly, preferably with blown air.
