The ImpGen 3-1/2" Meco Midget Cooler Head Tube Adapter is a direct replacement for the standard brass head tube on the popular Meco Midget torch. This upgrade dramatically expands what you can accomplish at the bench by addressing one of the most common complaints with the Meco Midget: heat traveling back into the torch body toward your hand.
Engineered for durability and comfort, the ImpGen Cooler Head Tube Adapter is constructed from twin tubes of special 304 stainless steel — a significant improvement over the simple brass tube it replaces. The brass tip features cooling fins for additional heat protection, and torch-to-tip sealing can be performed face-to-face as well as by the nose-radius-to-inside-seat-angle method, reflecting superior engineering at this critical safety junction. A copper ferrule on the torch end of the adapter provides cushioning for a more secure seal at another key connection point.
Installation is straightforward: simply unscrew the existing Meco Midget head tube from the body and thread on the ImpGen Cooler Head Tube Adapter in its place. The manufacturer recommends using a suitable wrench for a firm final turn. Torch tips are then screwed onto the brass tip just beyond hand-tight using the same wrench. Always check for leaks before use, as with any torch.
Once installed, the adapter is compatible with the same oxy/fuel mixtures you already use with your Meco Midget — oxy/propane, oxy/natural gas, or oxy/acetylene. The Meco N type single-hole tips work with all of these gas combinations. The ImpGen Artisan Laminar tips are compatible with oxy/propane or oxy/natural gas only.
