This flush-cut, small tapered head cutter strikes an excellent balance between strength and flushness, making it a go-to tool for jewelers and metalsmiths who demand clean, consistent wire cuts across a wide range of applications. Part of the renowned 80 Series, the 8144 delivers unsurpassed cutting capacity backed by precision engineering and premium materials.

Features

  • Flush cutting edge leaves a practically smooth cut on one side of the wire — ideal for finishing work where a clean end is required
  • Adjustable precision screw joint minimizes friction and maximizes alignment of cutting edges for consistent performance
  • Forged from high-grade steel with exceptional impact resistance and resiliency
  • Precision induction hardened to a Rockwell hardness of 63–65, among the highest of any cutters available

Notes

Important: Lindstrom cutters are not guaranteed. Cutting limits printed on the handles refer to soft copper wire only. Metal alloys commonly used in jewelry are significantly harder. All flush-cut styles are inherently more delicate than micro-bevel cutters and are more susceptible to damage if cutting limitations are exceeded.

Dents in the cutting surface indicate that the hardness of the material being cut exceeds the cutter's limits. If tip damage occurs, grinding the undamaged side down to match the damaged side and continuing use is recommended. Lindstrom cutters, as used in the jewelry industry, should be considered consumable labor-saving devices.

For reference: The 80 Series is also available in oval jaw, tapered, and tapered-relieved jaw designs, with Micro-Bevel, Flush, and Ultra-Flush cutting edge options.
