Nechamkin Beading-Pearling Tools-6 Piece Set

These Beading-Pearling Tools from Nechamkin are patterned after French Pearloir and Boîteroile Tools, bringing a historic European chasing tradition into the hands of contemporary metalsmiths and jewelers.

Raised Bead Tools, when struck into the metal from the back, produce a raised pearl on the front of the metal. They can also be used to deeply emboss small areas. The Hollow Bead Tools can be used to make small circles, or when struck over a raised pearl from the front, they crisp and round the pearl — defining its edges with precision.

Some refer to this technique as beading or pearling. Pearling was used heavily in the chased work of Tiffany & Co. designed by Charles Osborne in the late 19th century. The hollow and raised bead tools can be used together or individually, and create rich pattern and texture when struck repeatedly over an area.
