Product Details

The Orca MP-99 is a compact, portable, refillable butane torch designed for jewelers and metalsmiths who need bench-top precision in a hand-held form. Sharing the same gas flow regulator and air-mixture control found on the EZ Torch, the MP-99 delivers a wider range of temperatures and flame sizes than typical refillable torches — making it well suited for fine soldering, small-part work, and general bench tasks. The torch ships empty and includes the small tip (114.252); medium and large EZ Torch tips are compatible and sold separately.

Features

  • Compact, hand-held butane torch with professional-grade flame control
  • Gas flow regulator and air-mixture control provide a broad temperature and flame-size range
  • Reaches a maximum temperature of 2280°F (1250°C)
  • Refillable butane tank — 25 g (0.8 oz) capacity
  • Estimated run time of 40–120 minutes per fill (usage dependent)
  • Compatible with EZ Torch small, medium, and large tips (114.252, 114.253, 114.254)
  • Includes small tip 114.252 — the same tip used with the EZ Torch
  • Torch ships empty; fill with pressurized butane (see 114.214)

Notes

Lighting: Set the air regulator fully closed, open the gas regulator approximately ½ turn until gas is audible, then ignite. Add air gradually and fine-tune the gas knob until a stable blue flame is achieved. Close the gas knob completely to extinguish; keep closed when not in use.

Refueling: Use pressurized butane (see 114.214) in a well-ventilated, flame-free area with the gas knob fully closed. Invert both the torch and butane can, seat the can nozzle on the fill valve, and press to fill — no longer than 30 seconds. Set the torch upright and allow 1–5 minutes to stabilize before lighting. If gas sputters from the fill hole, slowly crack the gas knob to vent excess and wipe any residue before lighting.

Safety: Read all instructions before operating. Keep out of reach of children. Refuel only in ventilated areas away from ignition sources. Do not light if fuel is sputtering or if residue is present on the torch exterior. Do not touch the burner while hot. Do not store or use above 105°F (40°C). Do not leave in direct sunlight.
