Oval millgrain tools are a staple for stone setters who want to dress up or decorate stone settings with a refined, professional finish. The small, uniform depressions created by a millgrain wheel produce an elegant beaded border around a stone setting, an effect that makes the stone appear larger and brighter. These are precision stone-setting tools — not to be confused with the larger decorative lathe tools used to mill the edges of wedding bands. Millgrain tools are extremely fine: size #1 measures approximately 0.35 mm across, while the largest size, #15, measures approximately 0.65 mm — a total range of only 0.30 mm, with roughly 0.02 mm between each size increment.

All millgrain tools are marked with a size number from 1 through 15 for easy identification at the bench. Tools are made in France and are available individually or in sets.
