Oval Red Jasper Cabochon

Jasper is an opaque chalcedony that can display a variety of colors and patterns, making each stone unique and one-of-a-kind. Jasper tends to come in rich autumn colors of oranges, browns and yellows and can be any color or combination of colors, except black or chalcedony know by another name. Chalcedony is made of tiny crystals of quartz that are not visible to the unaided eye. Chalcedony is widely used for carvings such as cameos and intaglios and was used as a seal to authenticate and certify documents in ancient times. Clean with warm, soapy water. Use of ultrasonic and steam cleaner is usually safe.
