The genuine Japanese pearl drilling lathe is the first and best pearl drilling machine in use worldwide — and it shows. Built with precision components and careful assembly, this machine drills perfectly aligned holes time and time again, year after year. It is far superior to less expensive Chinese copies on the market, where component quality and assembly care simply do not measure up.
Designed for drilling pearls and other round objects with a maximum hardness of 5 Mohs, this lathe accommodates pearls up to 34mm in diameter. The 200–240V motor operates at 6,500 RPM, making it the correct choice for countries where that voltage range is standard. A plug adapter may be required to fit your local outlet configuration.
Compatible drill sizes range from 0.2mm (minimum) to 3.2mm (maximum). For best results, genuine Japanese pearl drills are recommended, though HSS twist drills and similar jewelers' drills may also be used.
The Japanese pearl drilling lathe produces a perfectly drilled hole with no deformation caused by the drill exiting the pearl. Mount the pearl using the appropriate pearl or bead holders, then bring the holding jig up against the stationary drilling motor to begin drilling. When approximately halfway through the pearl, pull back the lever on the holding jig to unlock it, then rotate 180°. The jig locks precisely into the correct position, allowing the drill to enter the existing hole from the opposite side. The result is a clean, perfectly aligned through-hole with no exit damage.
