Re-Cast-It – Alloy Additive for Gold Casting (2 Troy Ounces)

Re-Cast-It is an alloy additive designed for re-casting old or scrap gold. It does not contain gold and is not a substitute for gold, but when mixed with yellow gold it helps restore castings to a bright, clean finish.

Benefits

  • Cleans old gold castings, restoring a bright yellow “new gold” look
  • Helps eliminate porosity in castings
  • Improves metal fluidity
  • Reduces reddish surface discoloration from re-cast gold
  • De-oxidizes used gold during casting

Sold in a pack of 2 troy ounces (40 DWT).

Mixing Ratios

  • 10K Scrap: Add 5 DWT Re-Cast-It + 3.57 DWT fine gold per 100 DWT scrap
  • 14K Scrap: Add 2 DWT Re-Cast-It + 2.82 DWT fine gold per 100 DWT scrap
  • 18K Scrap: Add 1 DWT Re-Cast-It + 3.00 DWT fine gold per 100 DWT scrap

For white gold, these ratios can be used but effectiveness is limited to 1–2 cycles due to yellowing. For continuous reuse with scrap + fresh mixes, use half the above amounts to avoid excessive deoxidizer buildup.

Melting Instructions

  • Place Re-Cast-It at the bottom of the crucible, with scrap on top
  • When molten, stir with carbon rod (gas-fired/torch melt) or quartz rod (electric induction melt)
  • Fluxing (boric acid recommended) may be required depending on scrap condition
  • Works best when scrap is clean from oxides and investment powder

Note: If gold is contaminated with cuprous oxide (red oxide), only limited positive results are expected.
