Amethyst is the most popular and valuable member of the quartz family, prized for its distinctive purple, wine-like color. According to early Greek tradition, amethyst was believed to prevent drunkenness — a legacy reflected in its name. These round faceted genuine amethysts display a light to medium dark purple hue and are generally eye-clean, making them well-suited for finished jewelry settings. These stones are heat-treated and available in a range of sizes from 2.0mm to 8.0mm to accommodate a wide variety of mounting styles and applications. For care, clean with warm, soapy water; ultrasonic cleaning is generally safe. Never clean amethyst with a steam cleaner.
