Round Genuine Iolite Cabochon

Iolite is derived from the Greek word for violet, displaying a vivid violet-blue color. Iolite is strongly pleochroic, meaning different colors are shown at different viewing angles of the stone. Violet, gray, or yellow can be seen depending on the direction viewed. This optical feature was used by the Vikings to help locate the sun on cloudy days to determine location. Clean with warm soapy water. Avoid use of ultrasonic and steam cleaner.
