Product Tip: Carbon steel will rust if exposed to humidity. Moisture from fingerprints can cause rust, so keep steel tools clean after each use. A light coating of oil is all you need to protect the steel. Store tools covered with an oily rag when not in use. If rust appears, remove it with fine sandpaper. Carbon steel is far stronger than stainless steel and is the preferred material for professional jewelers' tools, including pliers, mandrels, and rolling mills.
