The Steel Tube Forming Draw Plate is a specialized tool designed for jewelers and metalsmiths who need to form seamless tubing directly from flat metal strip stock. Featuring 18 holes ranging from 3.0mm to 10.0mm, this plate covers a wide diameter range in a single tool — replacing the need for multiple standard round wire drawplates.
To use, trim one end of a metal strip to a point and draw it through one of the larger holes on the plate. Continue drawing the metal through progressively smaller holes until a seam forms along the length of the strip. Solder the seam, and you have finished tubing ready for use in your jewelry work.
This plate is intentionally engineered with larger steps between holes than a standard wire drawplate. That design is what makes it effective for tube forming — the larger increments encourage the metal to curl and close into a tube shape rather than simply reducing in diameter. While it is possible to form tubing using conventional round wire drawplates, you would typically need at least three separate plates to achieve what this single plate accomplishes.
Made in the U.S.A. from steel, this drawplate is suited for use with non-ferrous jewelry metals including gold, silver, copper, and brass.
