Dead-soft sterling silver wire is very malleable and easy to bend; it will not hold a shape under stress, so it is best used for wrapping, weaving, and decorative work rather than for structural elements that must resist bending.

As with all common jewelry wire gauges, the higher the gauge number, the thinner the wire diameter.

Finer sizes are supplied on plastic spools to make dispensing easier and to help prevent kinks and tangles at the bench.
