Thermo-Fix Soldering Clay

Thermo-Fix Soldering Clay is a reusable clay from Germany for holding small parts during soldering and for protecting heat-sensitive areas. It acts as a localized heat shield so adjacent surfaces see less heat from the torch. Apply in layers 5–10 mm thick. Graphite-free, non-fuming, asbestos-free, and water-soluble for easy cleanup.

Specifications

Directions

1. Knead a portion until pliable; apply a 5–10 mm layer around areas to be protected and/or use to fixture small parts.
2. Seat the workpiece securely; avoid blocking solder flow or fluxed joints.
3. Solder as usual, focusing the flame on the joint rather than directly on the clay for extended periods.
4. Allow to cool. Remove clay and rinse any residue with water. Return usable clay to an airtight container.
