The Vallorbe LQ5120 Three Square Machinist-Engineers Files are Swiss-made double cut files designed for the demands of professional machinists and engineers. Available in two lengths and two cuts, these triangular-profile files offer versatile material removal for metal fabrication, deburring, and precision fitting work at the bench.
Important: Machinist files (also called Engineers files) are made to a different standard than Jewelers Precision files. Cuts and shapes are different. A Machinist file Bastard cut (marked 1) is coarser than a jewelers file marked 1. A Machinist file will have slightly different dimensions than a Jewelers Precision file. Lengths on Machinist files are measured from the top or point of the file to the point where the tang begins to angle up to the heel. Lengths on Jewelers Precision files are measured from the top or point of the file to the point where the heel begins to angle down.

Machinist files and Jewelers Precision files are built to different standards and are not interchangeable in specification. Verify the correct file type for your application before ordering. Length measurements on Machinist files are taken from the tip of the file to the point where the tang begins to angle—this differs from the measurement convention used for Jewelers Precision files.
