Product Details

Magnesia soldering blocks are Non-asbestos, fibrous, fireproof material used as a surface for soldering. Soft enough to pin or press objects (work) into its surface. Measures 6" L x 3" W x 2"H.

Magnesia soldering blocks are made of magnesium oxide, and work similarly to charcoal blocks as they are heat reflective. they have an advantage over charcoal as being resistant to fracturing, while charcoal requires binding wire and annealing with a reducing flame in order to prevent fracturing.


Magnesia blocks can withstand heat up to 2000 F (1093 C) so non ferrous metals like copper, silver and gold can be melted on its surface.


Be sure to use in a well ventilated area and always wear a protective mask when soldering as exposure to soldering fumes and Magnesium oxide fumes are considered a toxic.
