Bezel Setting Tools Set of 24

This 24-piece set of polished bezel setting tools ranges in size from 1.5 mm to 9.0 mm, making it an essential kit for jewelers who work with round bezels and tube settings. The set includes a wood handle and is housed in a round wood container. Made in Europe.

These tools are ideal for tube setting. Select the appropriate size to smoothly and easily close round bezels and tube settings. For tube settings, choose heavy-walled tubing 0.5 mm larger than the stone, then use a setting burr exactly the size of the stone to cut the seat. For example, for a 3 mm round faceted stone, choose heavy-walled tubing with a 3.5 mm outside diameter (OD)—or slightly larger, up to 3.8 mm—then cut the seat with a 3 mm setting burr. Seat the stone, then burnish the bezel closed with the appropriately sized setting tool from this set.

Before use, we recommend polishing the insides of the punches with a small bullet point (Part # 110.342). These punches can also be modified for additional uses. One method, recommended by Goldsmith Peter Rowe, is to cut a slot across the top of the punch with a separating disk, then use an abrasive wheel to slightly lower one side of the slot, creating a cutting edge on the untouched side. This modified punch can then function as a simple cup burr to remove material around the outside of a bezel.
