Amber is an organic gem formed millions of years ago when sap from ancient pine trees hardened and fossilized. Amber artifacts date back to 10,000 BC, and amber has been called nature's time capsule—known to contain inclusions such as extinct plants and small animals. To be classified as amber, the tree resin must be at least one million years old; otherwise, it is considered Copal, an immature form of amber. Amber typically occurs in yellow, gold, and brown tones, though it can also appear in white, red, blue, or green.
These oval amber cabochons display a warm orange color with eye-visible inclusions that showcase the natural character of this ancient organic material. Available in a range of sizes, they are well suited for setting in rings, pendants, earrings, and other jewelry designs. Clean with warm, soapy water only. Avoid ultrasonic and steam cleaners.
