Never operate the motor without a proper Foredom speed control; plugging directly into mains power can damage the motor and is unsafe.
In reverse, screw-top mandrels with loose polishing wheels may unscrew—use pre-mounted wheels permanently fixed to mandrels when running in reverse.
Alternating forward and reverse directions can help extend abrasive life and improve symmetry when grinding, carving, or polishing.
