Oregon Sunstone is a natural, all-American gem, sourced exclusively from mines in the state of Oregon and receiving no treatment of any kind. A member of the Feldspar mineral group, Oregon Sunstone is prized for its lively, sparkling luster caused by flat, reflective copper inclusions contained within the stone. This optical phenomenon — known as aventurescence and often referred to as Schiller — gives each stone a distinctive, glittering brilliance unlike any other gemstone.
Oregon Sunstone is transparent, with those same copper inclusions responsible for producing a warm reddish to golden and orange body color. These faceted marquise-cut stones exhibit high-end quality color ranging from orange to light red, making them an exceptional choice for fine jewelry fabrication and custom design work.
Oregon Sunstone is notably rare and labor-intensive to mine — a ton of raw rock typically yields only about a pound of Sunstone, with only a fraction of that reaching gem quality. Each stone is entirely natural and untreated, preserving the authentic character that makes Oregon Sunstone a standout among domestic gemstones.
