Notes

  • Pre-alloying with fine gold using aggressive stirring and fluxing is recommended to ensure a uniform mixture.
  • Use very little boric acid flux. Do not use carbon flux such as soda ash or saltpeter. No flux is needed in a bottom-pour automatic casting unit.
  • To calculate the weight of metal needed (in grams), multiply density (g/cc) by the weight of wax (grams), then add 10% for the button.
  • Avoid aggressive acids for investment removal — use fluoride-based removers to prevent stress corrosion and surface damage.
  • Recommended scrap mix: 60% fresh, 40% scrap. Note that white gold alloy has approximately one-third the reusability of yellow gold alloys.
  • Melt temperature may vary depending on the type of casting unit used.
  • Proprietary metals are present in the formulation and are not fully disclosed in the composition data.
