Description

A hammer handpiece drives its tip in a straight reciprocating stroke instead of spinning it, which makes it the bench tool of choice for stone setting. The Foredom H.15 is a reciprocating-action handpiece for jewelers who need reliable hammer handpiece performance without the premium cost of a top-tier Swiss-made unit. It delivers a 1/32" stroke with adjustable impact force, light to heavy, controlled by rotating the silver knurled adjusting ring.

Stone setting is its primary application, and it also handles texturing work, most effectively with the pavé point (diamond tip) accessory, Otto Frei part number 153.195, which produces a bright-cut stippled effect. The H.15 also accepts the Foredom Carbide Tip (HP10212, Otto Frei part number 134.301) for marking or inscribing hardened steel.

The handpiece is supplied with a hardened tip. Tip threads are 4-48 US thread, the same standard used on popular Badeco tips, so tips are interchangeable between the H.15 and the Swiss-made Badeco hammer handpiece. Run it at low speed only, 0–5,000 rpm, and in forward rotation only. It requires periodic lubrication with MS10005 Handpiece Lube (Otto Frei part number 134.343). This is the no duplex spring version.

Foredom hammer handpiece

Had a problem with my Gravermach with a table full of stones to set so I ordered a Foredom 15 hammer handpiece as it was faster than waiting for two weeks for GRS to turn around a rebuild of my engraver. It works well though not as maneuverable as the rubber hose of an engraving handpiece. Got the job done and very controllable.

Would this be compatible with an old Ottoflex? I am not yet in a position to upgrade my flex shaft, but I do a lot of stone setting and would love to have a hammer hand piece.

OttoFrei.com

Yes. All Ottoflex's have the USA key tip shafts and work with all Foredom key tip handpieces -like this one.

Can I use MS10006 flex shaft lubricant on this H.15 handpiece?

OttoFrei.com

Not the recommended lubricant. Flex shaft grease is for the shaft itself. Foredom sells a motor and handpiece oil, see MS10006, our number 134.343.

I have an sr motor but not sure how to attach the hand piece. Doesn’t seem to fit like my other hand pieces. Am I missing something?

OttoFrei.com

The Foredom H.15 handpiece we sell fits the USA standard key-tip shaft, with is standard equipment on Foredom SR motors sold in the USA. Something is wrong if that is your equipment and your Foredom H.15 will not connect like a common Foredom H.30. Give us a call to discuss.
