Description

Important Notice 10/22/26: Spearhead HSS burs have ceased production.  The Spearhead factory has closed and is no longer in business.  As we sell out of sizes these burs will no longer be available.

Setting burs cut clean, uniform seats that hold a stone securely. Spearhead High Speed Steel (HSS) setting burs are precision cut in the United States using modern equipment operated by highly trained professionals. Sold exclusively by Otto Frei, Spearhead HSS burs are easily identified by their size imprinted on the shank and the characteristic slanted flute angle of a setting bur. Uniform, consistent geometries produce clean, precise cuts seat after seat. Professional stone setters choose HSS burs for their significantly longer service life compared to Tungsten Vanadium Steel burs, which makes them a more economical choice over time. Available in 34 sizes from 0.90 mm to 11.10 mm, sold individually.

The best but not perfect.

These burrs are excellent. With careful use not to touch a diamond and good lubrication, I have gotten decades of use out of these. Some have cut thousands of seats and still keep cutting. Since they are hand cut , some are not as good as others in the same set but overall they are well worth the investment.
