The Vallorbe Swiss Eco Range Three-Square Machinist-Engineers Files (LX5560) are precision-made Swiss pattern files designed for machinists and engineers working on metal fabrication, toolmaking, and general metalworking tasks. Three-square files — also called triangle files — feature a triangular cross-section that tapers toward the cut end. All three sides are double cut, making them effective for filing internal angles, grooves, and corners. These files do not taper to a point.

Available in two lengths (6" and 8") and three cuts ranging from coarse to fine, these files offer versatile stock removal and finishing options for bench work.

Machinist files (also called engineers files) are made to a different standard than jewelers precision files. Cut grades and shapes are not interchangeable between the two types. A machinist file Bastard Cut (marked 1) is coarser than a jewelers file marked 1, and overall dimensions will differ slightly. Length measurement also differs: on machinist files, length is measured from the tip to the point where the tang begins to angle up to the heel. On jewelers precision files, length is measured from the tip to where the heel begins to angle down.
