Platinum Open Top Spring Ring 5mm

Spring rings are the most popular type of clasp used for chains worn around the neck — secure, reliable, and easy to use. Platinum spring ring clasps are round hollow tubes with a tiny coil spring inside and a jump ring attached for connecting to one end of a chain. A movable, spring-tensioned bolt has a lever attached; use your fingernail to push the bolt back to open the spring ring. The bolt is held firmly closed by the internal spring inside the tubing. It takes two hands to open and close a spring ring.

This 5mm Platinum spring ring clasp features an open top jump ring for easily attaching to one end of a chain. The jump ring is often twisted to a closed position when attaching, but that method is not secure. Do not use torch heat to solder the jump ring closed — the internal spring will be damaged by the heat. The proper method to close the jump ring is to laser weld or tack weld it.
