18K Yellow Open Top Spring Rings 5mm, 5.5mm & 6mm

Spring rings are the most popular type of clasp used for chains worn around the neck — secure, reliable, and easy to use. These 18K yellow gold spring ring clasps feature a round hollow tube body with a tiny coil spring inside and an open top jump ring for connecting to one end of a chain. A spring-tensioned bolt with an attached lever opens when you push it back with your fingernail; that same internal spring holds it firmly closed. Opening and closing a spring ring requires two hands.

The open top jump ring allows for easy attachment to the chain end. While the jump ring is sometimes simply twisted closed, this method is not secure. Do not use torch heat to solder the jump ring closed — the internal spring will be damaged by heat. The correct method is to laser weld or tack weld the jump ring after attachment.
