Fretz HMR-303 Ball Pein Hammer

The Fretz HMR-303 Ball Pein Hammer is part of the Extra Large Silversmith Hammer line introduced by Bill and Jordan Fretz. Designed for moving thicker, heavier-gauge metals, this hammer lets the weight of the head do the work—reducing strain on your arm and shoulders during extended forging and forming sessions.

The HMR-303 features two faces with different widths and curves, making it purpose-built for removing stretch marks from the inside of a formed shape—particularly after initial stretching with the HMR-301, HMR-302, or HMR-304 hammers. The larger face is slightly domed, while the smaller face is more curved; the correct choice depends on the interior curvature of the piece you are working on. The substantial weight of this hammer also makes it well suited for forging heavy wire or ingots. For use with non-ferrous metals only.

The head is cast from 422 Stainless Steel with fully polished ends. The handle is well-formed, smooth to the touch, and nicely finished, with a thicker diameter than those found on the Fretz Large Silversmith line.
