Cut in a classic emerald/octagon faceted shape, these lab-created rubies are composed of man-made corundum sharing the same chemical composition and durability as natural ruby. Each stone displays vivid, even coloration with excellent clarity — making them an ideal choice for production jewelry, custom metalsmithing, and stone-in-place casting work.
Ruby is the most valuable variety of corundum and commands the highest per-carat price of any colored stone. Color ranges from orangy red to purplish red, with pure, vivid red to slightly purplish red considered the most prized. These lab-created stones offer consistent color and clarity that can be difficult to achieve in natural material. Known as the "King of Gems" in Sanskrit, ruby has been one of the most desired gemstones since biblical times and serves as the traditional July birthstone.
Clean with warm, soapy water. Use of an ultrasonic or steam cleaner is generally safe.
