The Lindstrom 8150 is a Micro-Bevel, Medium Oval Head side cutter from the professional 80 Series line — engineered for jewelers and metalsmiths who require a wide cutting range with superior edge durability. The Micro-Bevel cutting edge features a very slight bevel that increases strength during cutting, leaving a slight peak on one side of the cut wire. This design allows for a wide variety of applications and delivers superior durability compared to Flush cutters.

The 80 Series is forged from high-grade steel with precision induction hardening, achieving a Rockwell hardness of 63–65 — among the highest of any cutters made. Maximum cutting capacity is 1.6 mm soft copper wire.

Features

  • Micro-Bevel cutting edge — slight bevel for increased cutting strength and a wide range of applications; leaves a slight peak on one side of the cut wire
  • Adjustable precision screw joint minimizes friction and maximizes alignment of cutting edges
  • Forged high-grade steel with precision induction hardening for a Rockwell hardness of 63–65
  • Double leaf springs with textured, non-slip handles for comfort and control
  • Medium oval head jaw design
  • Superior durability compared to Flush and Ultra-Flush cutting edge options

Notes

Cutting edge comparison:

  • Micro-Bevel — Very slight bevel edge for increased strength. Leaves a slight peak on one side of the cut wire. Wide cutting range and variety of uses. Superior durability compared to Flush cutters.
  • Flush — Leaves a practically smooth cut on one side. More susceptible to damage if cutting limitations are exceeded.
  • Ultra-Flush — Leaves a flat surface on one side. Most limited cutting range; greatest possibility for edge damage due to misuse. Most delicate of all side cutter edges.

Important: Lindstrom cutters are not guaranteed. Cutting capacity ratings printed on the handles apply to soft copper wire only. Metal alloys commonly used in jewelry are significantly harder. All Flush-type cutters are very delicate. If tip damage occurs, it is recommended to grind the undamaged side to match the damaged side and continue use. Dents in the cutting surface indicate the metal being cut exceeds the cutter's hardness limits. Lindstrom cutters, as used in the jewelry industry, should be considered consumable labor-saving devices.
