The Metalartz 3 Piece Division Plates Layout Jig Set — also known as the Layout Template Set — is designed by David Baird of Waltham, MA, to help jewelers and metalsmiths quickly lay out precise angles, lines, and symmetrical patterns. The set includes three 4" × 4" square clear acrylic plates, each 3 mm thick, marked with division lines radiating from a center point in the proportions of a 360-degree circle.
Each plate is organized by divisibility, making it easy to select the right template for your design geometry. David's preferred technique is to transfer a pattern onto tape using pencil carbon, then place the tape over your metal to transfer the layout — a clean, repeatable method suited to production work and one-of-a-kind studio pieces alike.

Notes
About the Designer: David Baird has been making jewelry for nearly four decades. He earned his bachelor's degree from the Evergreen State College and his MFA from The School of the American Craftsman at Rochester Institute of Technology. He also holds a Graduate Gemologist (GG) certificate from the GIA. David sells his work nationally and has taught classes and workshops for over 30 years, including at Metalwerx in Waltham, MA.
