Nechamkin Medium Green Pitch is an organic pine rosin–based pitch made in the USA. It grips firmly when cool and softens evenly when warmed, making it well suited to both deeper repoussé work and crisper, more controlled chasing. Keep the pitch slightly warmer for deeper forming passes; allow it to cool to a firmer consistency for detail chasing and light planishing.

• For added stability and pitch conservation, many smiths weight the bowl base with concrete before first use. Before the concrete sets, press finger depressions into it so the pitch can key in securely.
• Break pitch into small chunks and warm gradually. A 250–300 °F oven produces even softening; a hot-air gun also works — keep heat moving to avoid hotspots.
• Warm pitch until the surface is pliable, seat the workpiece, and allow it to cool until firm before striking. To release, re-warm slightly and lift the piece.
• Never heat pitch to the point of bubbling or smoking. Always work with adequate ventilation and wear eye protection when heating pitch.
