Bezel Setting Tools Set of 24 In Wood Box-Made in France

This French-made set of 24 bezel setting punches is an essential tool for jewelers who work with tube settings and round bezels. Ranging from 1.0 mm to 8.0 mm in outside diameter, the punches allow you to select precisely the right size to smoothly and cleanly close round bezels and tube settings. The set includes a punch handle and is presented in a hinged wood storage box, keeping your tools organized and protected at the bench.

These bezel setting tools are ideal for tube settings. For tube settings, choose heavy-walled tubing 0.5 mm larger than the stone, then use a setting burr exactly the size of the stone to cut the seat. For example, for a 3 mm round faceted stone, select heavy-walled tubing with a 3.5 mm outside diameter (OD)—up to 3.8 mm OD is acceptable. Cut the seat with a 3 mm setting burr, seat the stone, then burnish the bezel closed with the appropriate size punch from this set.

We recommend using a small bullet point (Part # 110.342) to polish the insides of the punches before use. These punches can also be modified for additional uses. One method, recommended by goldsmith Peter Rowe, is to cut a slot across the top of the punch with a separating disk, then use an abrasive wheel to slightly lower one side to the slot, creating a cutting edge on the untouched side. The modified punch can then be used like a simple cup burr to remove material around the outside of a bezel.
