A machinist square is the metalworker's equivalent of a woodworker's try square. The term square refers to the tool's primary function: measuring the accuracy of a right angle (90 degrees). To try a surface is to check its straightness or its correspondence to an adjoining surface. This German-made machinist square is engineered for professional accuracy and built to outlast lesser alternatives.
Unlike less expensive machinist squares that are welded together from two separate pieces of material, this square is machined from a single piece of bar stock (billet), ensuring superior rigidity and precision. The foot is a separate piece. A small notch has been added to the inside corner of the square to prevent small particles from accumulating and affecting the tool's reading.
