The Otto Frei 6-1/4" (160mm) Half-Round/Concave Jaw Mirror Polished Bending Pliers are precision German-made tools designed for forming bezels, bending wire, and shaping thick ring shanks. One jaw is half-round (7mm), and the opposing jaw is concave (9mm) — slightly larger so that when the jaws close, the curve of the half-round jaw seats precisely into the concave jaw for controlled, consistent bends.
Constructed from carbon steel, these pliers are significantly stronger than stainless steel alternatives. Carbon steel resists bending and distortion under repeated use, making it well suited to demanding bench work. Because of this rigidity, the pliers can fracture if subjected to hard impacts such as dropping or stresses beyond their design limits, though such breakage is uncommon. Carbon steel will develop a natural patina over time and may surface-rust if left unprotected. Rust can be removed with light sandpaper. Wipe the jaws and body with a lightly oiled rag after use or store under one to maintain the tool and slow oxidation.
Also available in a lighter 5-1/8" size — see part number 146.341. Note that the 6-1/4" pliers are considerably larger overall than the 5-1/8" model.
