The Otto Frei 5-1/8" Fully Polished "Naked" Pliers Kit brings together three essential plier styles — Flat Nose, Round Nose, and Chain Nose — presented on a wood stand. These pliers are handmade in a small, family-owned factory in Germany, where the craft of producing high-quality jeweler's tools has been passed down through generations. The result is a set of perfectly balanced, precisely formed pliers with the highest level of fit and finish available.
"Naked" refers to the fully mirror-polished construction: these pliers have no vinyl or rubber grips and no leaf springs, leaving the carbon steel completely exposed and polished by hand. Because every surface requires detailed hand polishing, these pliers represent a step up in craftsmanship over spring-and-grip versions. Tips are precisely formed, matched, and true.
Originally developed at the request of the Revere Academy, these pliers are produced in the same German factory as Revere-brand pliers. The distinguishing difference is handle treatment — Otto Frei Naked pliers feature plain handles, while Revere pliers use a scalloped dental-style handle profile.
Important: Carbon steel will rust if exposed to moisture. Store these pliers in a protected environment when not in use.
