Developed in collaboration with professional jewelers, the Otto Frei Advanced Stone Setting Kit brings together a carefully selected collection of professional-grade tools for jewelers who are ready to set stones with precision and confidence. This is not a beginner's starter kit β it is designed for serious students and working professionals who want the right tools to develop and refine stone setting skills at a high level. The kit assumes you already own a standard flex shaft and basic jewelry tools such as pliers and files.
At the heart of this kit are two of the finest Swiss-made handpieces available for flex shaft use: the Badeco Hammer Handpiece and the Technique Quick Change Handpiece. The Badeco Hammer Handpiece must be used exclusively with the included Foredom LX motor, which is engineered for high torque at low speed with a maximum of 5,000 RPM. Running the Badeco Hammer Handpiece on a standard Foredom SR or CC motor (rated to 18,000 RPM) can damage the Duplex spring if speeds exceed 5,000 RPM. Both handpieces are compatible with the LX motor and can be alternated as needed. For faster workflow, the Technique Quick Change Rotary Handpiece can be moved to a separate Foredom SR or CC motor. Use double hanger 134.616 to hang two motors and dedicate each to its appropriate handpiece.
The kit also includes an exceptional educational component: Robert R. Wooding's Diamond Setting: The Professional Approach manual and his introductory diamond setting DVD β together an authoritative learning resource from one of the industry's most respected instructors. Rounding out the kit is a comprehensive selection of hand tools, 3/32" setting burs, drill bits, and miscellaneous burs so you can begin setting stones right away.
