Notes

  • Set up a well-ventilated polishing area; dust and debris are generated during polishing. Use dust collection systems and polishing hoods to capture particles.
  • Dust collection systems may range from a basic shop vacuum to advanced filtered systems for cleaner, quieter operation.
  • Always wear eye protection and a dust mask when polishing.
  • Do not wear gloves while holding items against rotating buffs; never wrap materials around fingers.
  • Keep chains, loose clothing, and hair away from spindles and buffs at all times.
  • Do not touch rotating spindles—threads are sharp at any speed.
  • Seek professional instruction for proper polishing techniques.

The kit comes with 3" buffs and the description says it will take up to 4" buffs. To clarify, will this machine take 4" buffs? Is there an advantage to using a 3" vs. 4"?

OttoFrei.com

The machine can use buffs up to 4" diameter. There is little advantage to using the larger 4" diameter buffs unless you had an application where you needed maximum speed. Perhaps for grinding and not polishing. The larger the buff, the faster the buff surface is traveling. Too fast and polishing compounds & buff can generate too much heat. This is a variable speed motor, so adjusting speed is very easy, so feel free to use 4" buffs if you want, but there is no advantage to using them.
