V-Line Engraving Block

The V-Line Engraving Block is a value-priced, economy-grade engraving block made in India. It closely resembles the out-of-production USA Victor engraving block and the formerly Japan-made Vigor engraving block in overall appearance. However, unlike those models, the top jaws on this unit are integrated and not removable. This block is intended for students and beginners working on a budget. Fit and finish are not comparable to professional-grade engraving blocks such as those made by GRS or Pepetools.

This is the 5" standard size engraving block — the 5" measurement refers to the maximum width of the round block. It ships with a base included. The jaw width is 2-5/8" with a height of 1-1/2", and the maximum jaw opening is 3". The unit weighs approximately 21 lbs.

Because this is an all-steel (not stainless steel) unit manufactured in a high-humidity environment, the maker applies a heavy coating of cosmoline — a rust-inhibiting compound — to the surfaces. Before placing the block in service, it is strongly recommended that you disassemble the unit and wipe it down thoroughly with a dry cloth (not wet, as moisture will cause rust).

The pin hole sizes on top of this block are compatible with GRS pin tools used in the GRS attachment sets, part numbers 103.520 and 103.520MPV. For those comparing options, the made-in-USA Glendo GRS engraving blocks are significantly higher in quality than this economy block.
