The Glardon-Vallorbe Valtitan Barrette Needle File is a precision Swiss-made file tapered in both width and thickness, ending in a rounded point. Only the flat side is cut — the back is safe — making it ideal for controlled filing work where protecting adjacent surfaces matters. At 180mm (7-1/8") overall length, with a working face measuring 5.4mm wide by 2.0mm thick, this file is sized for detailed bench work on fine metalwork and hard alloys alike.

Glardon-Vallorbe Swiss-made Precision Files are the world's standard for quality and performance. Manufactured to precise production standards through a combination of machine cutting and hand craftsmanship, they are made from the finest heat-tempered chrome alloy steel — delivering the right feel, action, and balance demanded by true craftsmen. These files provide superior performance across all metals.

Valtitan is Glardon-Vallorbe's proprietary treatment that increases file hardness to 72 HRc on the Rockwell scale — the hardest steel file available. This treatment makes Valtitan files corrosion resistant, longer lasting, and highly resistant to metal loading in the teeth; a simple knock is usually enough to clear chips. Valtitan files are especially recommended for platinum and other hard metals such as stainless steel, but perform exceptionally well on all metals. Note: beginning in 2016, Valtitan files are no longer produced with yellow-painted tangs — the factory now imprints VALTITAN directly on the tang for identification.
