The Vallorbe Swiss Eco Range Flat Hand Machinist-Engineers Files (LX5510) are Swiss pattern double-cut files designed for precision material removal in machinist and engineering applications. Also known as equaling or pillar files, these flat hand files are parallel in both width and thickness, with one safe edge — meaning one narrow edge is left uncut to protect adjacent surfaces during filing.

Available in three lengths (4", 6", and 8") and three cuts (Bastard, Second, and Third), these files offer versatility across a range of stock removal and finishing tasks.

Important: Machinist files (also called Engineers files) are made to a different standard than Jewelers Precision files. Cuts and shapes differ. A Machinist file Bastard cut (marked 1) is coarser than a jewelers file marked 1, and dimensions vary slightly between the two types. Lengths on Machinist files are measured from the tip of the file to the point where the tang begins to angle up to the heel. Lengths on Jewelers Precision files are measured from the tip to where the heel begins to angle down.
