Eschenbach is frankly the best basic optics in existence. These 2x are the minimum I recommend.

I love Eschenbach optics and these binocular lenses are superb. The clarity and quality of them is unmatched unless you need medical grade optics etc to the tune of $4k! I'm near sighted and if that's what you are, I strongly recommend you get 2x or greater since people with strong nearsightedness already have about 1.6x so 1.7x is insignificant. I'd rather work closer to the table with 2x or even 2.5x than have the distance and lower magnification anyway.
