Leather Double Stitched 10" Sandbag

This round, double-stitched leather sandbag measures 10" in diameter and is constructed from thick, heavy-duty leather made from camel hides. Metal has been formed using sandbags exactly like these for millennia, making this a time-tested staple in any metalsmith's or jeweler's workshop.

Place the metal being shaped on the sandbag and strike it with a planishing hammer or nylon forming hammer to shape or smooth the piece. Exceptionally useful for repair work when removing dents and imperfections and equally well-suited for chasing applications. The bag will stretch and conform to hammer blows during one project, then can be manipulated back into shape for the next.
