Once clamped, the mandrel expands smoothly as you tighten the center bolt, nudging the shank out to size in small, controlled steps.

Secure the mandrel firmly in a vice, clamp, or appropriate machine fixture before use. Place the ring over the mandrel, then tighten the center bolt gradually with the hex key to stretch the ring. Work in small increments and check the size frequently to avoid over-stretching, especially on soldered or stone-set rings.
