The Durston DRM 130RE Round Wire Combination Rolling Mill represents a significant advancement in rolling mill design. Traditional wire rolling mills use a modified hexagon groove profile — easy to manufacture and structurally sound — but the resulting wire still requires draw plate finishing to achieve a true round cross-section. Advances in metallurgy have allowed Durston to engineer wire rollers in a full round profile, so round wire can be produced directly from the mill with minimal cleanup. This also simplifies subsequent drawing through any shaped draw plate to achieve alternate wire profiles.

The DRM 130RE features a 50% flat / 50% round wire combination roller layout, making it a versatile tool for professional jewelers and metalsmiths who work with both flat sheet and round wire in a single workflow.

The 130 mm precision hardened rolls include 10 round wire grooves ranging from 1 mm to 10 mm, plus a 75 mm flat rolling area, for a total roll width of 130 mm. The mill handles flat materials up to 6 mm thick and round wire up to 10 mm in diameter. Side extension rollers add four half-round profiles — 4 mm × 1.25 mm, 3 mm × 1 mm, 2 mm × 0.75 mm, and 1.5 mm × 0.5 mm — providing even greater versatility for half-round wire and profile work.

Round Wire Groove Sizes: 1 mm, 2 mm, 2.5 mm, 3 mm, 3.5 mm, 4 mm, 4.5 mm, 5 mm, 5.5 mm, and 6 mm.

Adjustment is handled via a top-mounted calibrated wheel for precise, repeatable gap settings. The solid cast iron body delivers ultimate rigidity and long-term durability, while 64RC induction hardened rolls ensure a lifetime of professional results. Made in Great Britain.
