Boulder Opal is exclusively found in Queensland, Australia, where veins and patches of precious opal form within rugged brown ironstone boulders. This stunning gem was created over millions of years ago when rainwater dissolved silica from the earth's surface, depositing it into natural cavities within the ironstone. As a result, Boulder Opals boasts exceptional durability, with it's ironstone backing providing a natural reinforcement that makes it more resistant to cracks and fractures compared to other opals. Clean with warm, soapy water. Avoid use of ultrasonic, steam cleaner and any sudden rapid heat changes.

Some Opalescence contains at least a flash of opalescence throughout the stone. Each stones patterns is unique and is heightened by the opalescence. Opalescence is about 1-5% of the gemstones surface within primary hue of purple and greens.
