NC Black 29 Shelby Raising Hammer

The NC Black 29 Shelby Raising Hammer was developed in collaboration with master metalsmith Steve Shelby, whose unique raising style demanded a tool that simply did not exist on the market. Unable to source a hammer with the precise size and shape his technique required, Shelby designed his own — and NC Black Tools brought it to life. Each hammer is hand fabricated, reflecting the craft-forward philosophy that defines the NC Black line.

The hammer features two distinct face profiles on a single head, giving metalsmiths the versatility to work different stages of the raising process without switching tools. The wider, shallower face and the narrower, taller face work in concert to move metal efficiently and with control. At 26 ounces, the hammer carries substantial weight for serious raising work while remaining manageable through extended use sessions.
